REM Association Services was formed in 1996 as an association management and consulting firm. Clients include nonprofit trade associations and professional societies.

Robert E. McLean

REM’s president is Bob McLean. He is immediate past chairman of ASAE’s AMC Section Council and was the founding chair of the AMC Institute’s Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Task Force (of which he remains a member). He is a past member of ASAE’s Small Staff Advisory Committee.

Bob McLean, CAE, is a 27-year veteran of the communications industry, including 14 years in the association world. He opened his own association management company in 1996. He is a registered lobbyist on Capitol Hill, provides management services, teaches training classes, and consults on association program development and strategic planning. He is executive director of two 501(c)(6) associations.

From 1988 to 1996 McLean was editor and legislative counsel for the National Association of Postal Supervisors. For three years he was also a writer and liaison in the United States Postal Service’s government relations department.

Prior to his DC career, McLean represented numerous retail and industrial clients in advertising and public relations. He worked in advertising/PR agencies in Memphis, Little Rock and Chattanooga.

In 1976, McLean, a native of Memphis, TN, graduated cum laude from The University of Memphis with a BA in Journalism. In 1994 he received his MA in English from George Mason University, where he subsequently served as an adjunct professor.

Don Werner

Our director of Membership Services is Don Werner. His association experience includes serving as a Director of Industry Forums for Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS). Prior to that, he spent 28 years experience in the telecommunications industry, most of them with AT&T, in customer sales and marketing positions. Don has served as an industry expert witness to the Federal Communications Commission and was moderator of the Ordering and Billing Forum, a group of 400 members with responsibility for seven interface disciplines. He chaired the Carrier Liaison Committee in ATIS.

Jeen-Marie Belson

Jeen-Marie Belson manages our financial accounting work. She has more than 10 years accounting and customer service experience, working with both for-profit and nonprofit organizations. Her role provides a valuable benefit in finance and resource management for our clients.

Clients

REM’s clients include national and international associations and societies. Their size ranges from small groups with fewer than 30 corporate members to larger trade associations with individual members numbering nearly 600. The business sectors served include the mailing industry, coal traders, mobile self-storage operators, photoluminescent product manufacturers, EAP providers, and insurance agents.

REM also works with other associations, corporations and unions on membership recruitment, communications, and strategic planning projects. REM’s training programs reach as many as 8,000 individuals annually, primarily in the area of building grassroots lobbying networks.
